The festive period is sure to provide plenty of goals and drama. Let’s hope it will also provide plenty of profit, starting with this huge 49/1 treble on Saturday’s BTTS & Win market.
We’ve picked three strong sides to win their respective games. If they can do that while letting the losing sides grab a goal too, we’ll be jumping for joy come 5PM. And just in time for the most expensive weeks of the year.
Good luck.
Chelsea v Southampton
Antonio Conte’s men have looked far from convincing this season and their title defence is all but dead before we’ve even reached Christmas. Still, Antonio Conte’s men will be hoping to be the best of the rest. If they are going to achieve that, beating the likes of Southampton at home is a must.
The Blues have already lost twice at home in the league, but 13 goals in eight games shows that they do know where the target is. After netting three at Huddersfield in midweek too, Eden Hazard and co. should be confident, not least because Saints were battered by Leicester on Wednesday night.
While the visitors have only scored five on the road, they can take heart from the fact Chelsea have conceded in each of their last four. Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini can help them find the net for a sixth straight game. Even so, we’re not sure it’ll be enough to secure any points.
It should be a home win, but Chelsea’s vulnerabilities can open the door for Saints to score too. Something like a 3-1 Blues triumph would do us fine.
AFC Wimbledon v Wigan Athletic
Off the field, this has been a great week for League One Wimbledon who have taken a major step to building their new home. On the pitch, however, Neal Ardley’s men face a very real prospect of relegation. Sadly, it’s likely to get even worse as they welcome high-flying Wigan to Kingsmeadow.
The Dons have scored nine times in their 10 home games and will fancy their chances of a goal after finding the target in five straight competitive matches here. Lyle Taylor and co. are certainly capable of getting on the scoresheet too. However, a strong Latics defence should restrict them to just one.
At the other end of the pitch, Paul Cook’s men have hit 17 in nine away games, winning six in the process. The visitors will still be top regardless of the result and that lack of pressure should help them maintain the flowing style that has seen them blow sides away in recent weeks. Will Grigg and his teammates should have too much for the hosts.
In spite of the wins, Wigan’s last five on the road have been BTTS winners. Don’t be surprised if we see another here.
Mansfield Town v Yeovil Town
In League Two, Mansfield are currently outside the play-off spots but will have their sights on breaking into the top seven by January. A home win over struggling Yeovil would help massively, and they certainly have the firepower to get it, even if their defence have conceded twice in each of the last two fixtures.
The Stags have a brilliant record at the One Call Stadium, losing just one of 10 games and scoring 18 times in the process. With Yeovil conceding a colossal 29 on their travels, Steve Evans will look to Danny Rose and co. for attacking inspiration.
Mansfield have conceded 11 on home turf, though, which should give the visiting Glovers a chance.Despite winning just once, the visitors have netted 12 on their travels scoring in three of their last four aways.
With just one point from the last five matches, though, it’s hard to see them causing an upset. Even if they do score, a home win should be on the cards.
