After an absolute monsoon of goals flooded the League Cup action last night, it would be rude not to piece together another tasty both teams to score treble for us punters to indulge ourselves with another splattering of Cup action again tonight.
Accrington Stanley vs Cardiff City
After a stunning effort in their memorable 3-2 win over the former Premier League champions at the weekend, the Bluebirds must give up their mantle as supreme under dogs and take on the role of Goliath in this cup tie.
Underdogs Accrington of League 2 will summon the spirit of their opponents’ heroic efforts a few days ago in a bid to give their home faithful a night to remember for all the right reasons. Some courage can be take from the fact that Cardiff are yet to keep a clean sheet in any competition this season.
In fact you’d have to go back as far as April to find the last time either of these sides have managed to keep their opponents from scoring for the full 90 plus Fergie time. Luckily we embrace the defensive frailties here at goalsgaloretips so here’s to prolonging the run!
Watford vs Bournemouth
The Cherries were well and truly popped when they last visited Vicarage Road just a few weeks ago. Tonight they return to the scene of the crime where they were stung 6-1 by the Hornets looking to restore some pride.
Eddie Howe’s men have had an indifferent Baptism into the Championship with 2 great wins and 2 thrashing defeats and the young maestro is yet to discover the fine balance between attack and defence in his talented squad. Expect a tighter affair than the mauling that ensued less than a month ago when these sides met here but there’s still a goal apiece in these teams at the very minimum!
AC Milan vs PSV
We draw our attention from the non-European sides in League Cup action to potentially the next lot of European heavyweights. Milan and PSV are of course already titans in their own right and whilst the draw that pitted them against each other has created a fine 2-legged spectacle, the harsh reality is this. We’ll begin the 2013/14 Champions League with only 1 of the 2 great European sides.
After a fiercely contested 1-1 draw in last weeks first leg in Eindhoven, it’s honours even and all to play for at the San Siro tonight. Away side PSV will take solace from the fact that they remain unbeaten in all competitions so far as they enter the tie as underdogs mainly due to the game being played in Milan. The Dutch side have to score in Italy because of the away goals rule and that should make for an open and exciting game with plenty of goalmouth action!
