We now approach part two of September’s international fixtures and the groups are approaching their conclusion, with valuable points to be had which will decide the teams competing in Brazil at the World Cup next summer, we can be confident that teams will want goals.
Here are my best 3 both teams to score selections for Tuesday’s international fixtures:
Norway v Switzerland – 17:00 Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 5/6
Group E is an incredibly close group, Switzerland will be confident they will win it but the second placed play off position is being fought over by four teams and no side can afford to drop points.
In this fixture the group leaders visit Norway who currently find themselves in that sought after second spot by just the single point, however they know anything but a win here, they will drop down the league. Switzerland can confirm their place in next summer with victory in Norway so with both teams wanting goals we can be confident of this coming in. I would not be surprised if they replicate their reverse fixture where it finished 1-1.
Romania v Turkey – 19:00 Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 4/5
Romania came out on top last Friday when they met Hungary in a pivotal match in Group D putting themselves in second spot and in prime position to get their name in the play-off draw. Turkey will still have hopes of snatching that place with three games to play but nothing less than a victory on Tuesday will do.
Romania too have to win as Hungary are just two points behind and have Estonia in a home game, where they are heavy favourites. Turkey have under performed in recent years but will take confidence from a comfortable 5-0 victory last Friday where Umut Bulut bagged a hatrick and danger man Burak Yilmaz also got in on the action.
Turkey certainly have the fire power to get goals in Romania on Tuesday but the home side will be doing everything they can to replicate their victory last week.
Iceland v Albania – 20:30 Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 5/6
We are expecting a plethora of goals in Group E as Iceland and Albania meet in another tie where both sides will be desperate for a win as they look to take advantage of any points Norway may drop. Iceland and Albania have 10 points on the table, with Slovenia who face a comfortable tie away to Cyprus just behind on 9, the play off place will be decided by the team who can win their three remaining games so no point can be dropped.
Last Friday, Iceland who have surprised many by still being in the mix at this stage, took a point from their fixture against group leaders Switzerland in a terrific 4-4 draw, an even bigger triumph considering they were away from home. Albania are a country continuing to improve on the international stage and will be going all out to make it their best qualification campaign yet, i can see plenty of goals in this one including an early one.
