We are without our beloved Premier League and Championship fixtures this weekend, nonetheless there is more than enough juicy games left for us to bite on.
Here at Goals Galore we have found a great treble which includes two fixtures from League One and also a great tie that guarantees goals in the Conference. Get on!
Port Vale v Peterborough – 3.00pm Saturday
Both teams to score odds – 4/7 SkyBet
Neither side will be displeased with their starts to this year’s campaign in their new division. Peterborough find themselves in second spot and favourites to be outright champions of League One after their final day relegation from the Championship last season and Port Vale were led by Micky Adams to automatic promotion from League Two and are currently 12th after ten games.
Peterborough will be clear favourites to take all three points on Saturday and approach this tie on a run of ten goals scored in their last five games where they’ve gone unbeaten, winning four and drawing the single match, so confidence won’t be an issue. The Posh have yet to lose on their travels and score on average THREE goals a game, which is an incredible away record.
Despite Port Vale being underdogs, I have every confidence they will at least get a goal this weekend as they have yet to go a home league game without scoring and have faced the likes of Wolves and Bradford City in these matches. Getting a result may be a little too much to ask for the Vale but with Tom Pope in the side, anything is possible.
Leyton Orient v MK Dons – 3.00pm Saturday
Both teams to score odds – 8/11 SkyBet
An intriguing match up awaits us in League One as Leyton Orient face a strong MK Dons. We are now ten games deep in to the season and Leyton Orient have yet to taste defeat which is quite incredible for a side many predicted to be languishing in the bottom half of the table. MK Dons are there or there about every year in play off contention and they currently lie in a predictable seventh place.
On their day MK Dons can play as well as any side in the division and will give Orient a real test this weekend. On their travels, MK haven’t performed particularly well though and have only registered the single victory in five attempts. They have been added to the coupon due to there knack of sneaking in a goal or two, despite just the one win they have scored in every away game apart from there opening day 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury.
Leyton Orient have staked their claim to top spot in League One after an incredible start to their league season which has seen them win eight of their ten fixtures but what has impressed us more here at Goals Galore is there huge 14 goals scored at home in just five league games. We just know they’re going to find the net on Saturday and money has to be on Kevin Lisbie to get on the score sheet as he continues to enjoy his Indian summer of a career.
Gateshead v Alfreton Town – 3.00pm Saturday
Both teams to score odds – 4/7 SkyBet
It is the first time this season we take a visit to the non league and we reach in to the Conference Premier for our football fix, Gateshead welcome Alfreton, and it looks a great addition to our BTTS coupon for Saturday.
Alfreton Town are certainly much more of a danger at home and have struggled on their travels having picked up just the single victory however they have earned three more points than the opposition currently and will see this as a game they can win. They lost their first home fixture of the season earlier in the week and will be looking to bounce back from that defeat by winning on Saturday. Alfreton have scored in their last five away games and i see this continuing.
Gateshead are sitting comfortably in 13th place in the Conference and are on a decent run of form having lost just the single game in five, and they too will be targeting maximum points in this tie. They have only failed to score once at home this season and in their 14 league games there have been 38 goals which is more than enough to convince us that this fixture is great for the coupon.
