Football is back! Well it sort of hasn’t gone but with the international break suspending our domestic flow we can now get back to normality. Therefore you would expect a goals galore treble on at least a few Premier League beauties however in choosing my three best selections of the weekend I have dropped down taking one fixture from the three divisions in the football league.
Leicester City v Wigan Athletic 3.00pm Saturday
Both teams to score odds – 4/6
We kick off our treble in the Championship with one of the games of the weekend as Wigan travel to Leicester; both sides have targeted promotion this season and will be happy with how they have started.
Leicester are fifth after their five games and have grinded out results in close matches. In their previous two fixtures, a total of eight goals have been scored and in a game which should be open I expect that goal tally to continue.
Wigan are one of the favourites for top spot in the league and will be hopeful to bounce straight back up to the Premier, they are continuing to play their fluid and expansive football under new manager Owen Coyle which is great for our goals galore coupon, displaying this with both teams scoring in their previous three matches.
I can see this being a terrific showing for the neutral and I wouldn’t want to guess a winner, do not be surprised if this is a 3-3 draw.
Bristol City v Peterborough United 3.00pm Saturday
Both teams to score odds – 8/15
This was a fixture in the Championship not too long ago but both are now battling it out in League 1, last season Peterborough were a favourite for goals and this has not changed as we take advantage of their attacking play. Despite handing out a few thrashings, they have also been found wanting at the back, and being away from home on Saturday I have predicted a few in both nets.
The Posh visit a Bristol City who have scored and conceded in every single game this season which is just perfect for our bet. The red side of Bristol have yet to pick up a home victory in the league but have beaten Crystal Palace in the League Cup, showing they are no pushovers.
This looks a match up made for one of our goals galore trebles so get this in your coupon now!
Cheltenham Town v Oxford United 3.00pm Saturday –
Both teams to score odds – 8/11
To explain how this match has ended up in our treble is pretty easy… both sides have scored in every single league game this season!
Unbeaten Oxford are second in the league and high flying on the back of a top of the table victory over Burton Albion last weekend. This too was away from home and they’ll be looking to replicate that result come Saturday
Cheltenham find themselves 20th at present despite being tipped for promotion by many. They’re fully expected to climb the table as the season progresses and I can see them going against the form book and grabbing a 2-1 victory here, and with record-signing Jermaine McGlashan coming off a brace against Portsmouth last Saturday expect the striker to be amongst the goals.
