Manchester City v Arsenal– 12.45pm Saturday
Goals Galore odds – 8/13 Betfred

Game of the weekend greets us at the Etihad- Manchester City versus Arsenal where two of the title challengers go head to head. Arsenal are five points clear at the top after earning a point at home to Everton last Sunday, while City also come into the fixture off the back of a draw away to surprise package, Southampton. Both those ties ended 1-1 and they may well replicate the scoreline this weekend.

Manchester City travelled to Germany mid week where they beat Bayern 3-2, in what was seen as a “dead rubber” by manager Pellegrini, who made many changes to the eleven that faced Southampton at St Mary’s. Having home advantage, having more “rested” players, as well as an extra day since their last match will only work in favour for the home side. I have no doubt City can find the net freely with goal scorers all over the pitch including the rested quartet of Aguero, Negredo, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri, however they have shown frailties at the back and a clean sheet will be very hard to come by.

Arsenal had a tough trip in the Champions League on Wednesday where they travelled to Napoli for a tricky tie with key players Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud all playing in a 2-0 defeat. I believe this will go against the Gunners during Saturday’s match, but they still have the weapons to cause the City backline plenty of problems. Goals have not been an issue all season and it will be a case of how many rather than if Arsenal score.

Cardiff v West Brom – 3.00pm Saturday
Goals Galore odds – 4/5 Betfred

After some heroic performances at home against Manchester United and Manchester City, Cardiff are beginning to show signs of struggle after another defeat away to Crystal Palace last weekend- certainly a result that would not have happened last year. Visitors today are West Brom, who also come into the fixture on the back of a defeat, a 2-0 loss back at The Hawthorns against Norwich in what was a shock result. Both sides will be looking to turn things round here and will be aiming for three points.

Cardiff are very much at risk of falling into the relegation zone as Crystal Palace and Fulham continue to improve. Points need to be picked up and a strong home record will be what the Blue Birds require to achieve another season in the top flight. Malkay Mackay will have marked this down as a must-win game and we should see a little more expansive play as the Welsh club look for goals.

West Brom too, are at risk of slipping in to trouble as they sit just two points above 19th place. They need a victory here to partially make up for the points they have recently dropped to Norwich, Manchester City and Newcastle, where all games ended in defeats. The Baggies will take confidence in the fact they have players at the right end of the pitch who can find the net including Sessegnon, Berahino, Anichebe and Shane Long. I feel at some point they will have to get a goal and I predict that they will oblige.

Leicester City v Burnley – 12.15pm Saturday –
Goals Galore odds – 4/5 Betfred

The early kick off in The Championship sees a top of the table joust between third placed Leicester City and the side top of the league Burnley. What a match! Just a single point separates these promotion candidates and QPR who are squeezed between them will be hoping for a draw. The fixture will be on television which should give the players even more motivation to perform.

Leicester have home advantage where they have found the net 16 times in nine games and have only lost the once. Three wins in a row at the King Power Stadium will give them plenty of confidence to come out on top on Saturday and top scorer David Nugent will be looking to build on the nine goals he has already registered in the league. The Foxes are favourites for the clash and you know at some point they will find the back of the net

Burnley have hit their first run of poor form this season and have struggled recently to get the results required of a title winning side. Seven days ago they did pick up a 1-0 victory over relegation threatened Barnsley in what was an unconvincing performance. The Clarets do still have the second best away record in the division with 14 goals having been scored on their travels in just nine games. All the stats point to a close scoreline with goals galore.
