Hopefully the winter weather doesn’t affect the treble this week as I aim to build on last weekend’s success with another Team Goals Treble.
Hull vs Charlton
This has to be one of the punts of the weekend in my opinion as two sides with different fortunes heading in different directions face off at the KC Stadium on Saturday.
Hull have been in fine form as of late and a run of 5 wins in their last 7 games has propelled them to 2nd in the league, albeit 5 points behind leaders Middlesbrough. But they have a decent chance of closing that gap this weekend as on home soil their record has only been matched by the league leaders.
Not only have Hull lost just 1 of their home games this season, they’ve won 10 of their 13 games here and have also managed a clean sheet in 8 of those games. More importantly for this bet, Hull’s goalscoring form has been pretty decent this season, scoring 2 or more in 9 of 13 home games and in 6 of their last 8.
As for Charlton, well it’s been a week from hell for The Addicks. Firstly they were knocked out of the FA Cup to League One side Colchester last weekend, and then in the week they were hammered 5-0 away at Huddersfield. The combination of these results lead to the departure of interim manager Karel Fraeye.
This leaves Charlton managerless, winless in 10 games in all competitions and 2nd from bottom of The Championship. Away from home this season they’ve managed just 2 clean sheets in 13 games and have collected just 6 points from a possible 39.
Brighton, Burnley and Huddersfield have all stuck 3 or more goals past Charlton in their last 4 away games and all of those sides are below Hull in the table and don’t have home form which is as convincing.
Hull very rarely run away with games, so a 5-0 thrashing here may be off the cards, but at the very least I’d predict a 2-0 or 3-0 win here for the home side.

Peterborough vs Southend
Regular readers of this article will probably be fed up of me piping on about Peterborough and their goalscoring form but it just continues every week and I just have to keep backing this bet given their incredible goalscoring power this season.
The Posh may only sit 6th in League One, but they have scored more goals than any other League side in England and having seen off Championship side Preston in a 2-0 win last weekend, it proved to me that they are able to compete at a higher level. Here at home they have scored 2 or more goals in 9 of their last 10 games in all competitions and no side has stopped them scoring in front of their home fans all season. It’s an incredible record that I feel is likely to continue this weekend.
The visitors to London Road are Southend, and whilst they sit in a respectable 9th position in the league, in recent weeks their form has slipped with 3 league losses in a row. Millwall, Doncaster and last weekend Swindon have all scored 3 or more goals against Southend and they have now conceded 2 or more goals in 5 of their last 7 away games in all competitions.
In their last visit to London Road, Southend suffered a 4-0 loss and a similar result this weekend wouldn’t surprise me. I expect Peterborough to continue their push for the playoffs in convincing fashion whilst Southend drift further towards mid-table obscurity.

Crawley Town vs Notts County
My final bet of the treble comes from League Two as Crawley Town host a struggling Notts County side and I expect the hosts to pick up at least a draw from this, but more importantly, find a couple of goals for us.
Yes, Notts County have a new manager in Jamie Fullerton who takes charge for the first time this weekend, but I’m not a huge believe in that whole “new manager syndrome” thing where you don’t back against a side who have a new gaffer. Their form recently leads me to believe that this is a pretty fantastic price for Crawley to score 2 or more goals here. In their last 6 games Notts County have shipped 17 goals, more than any other side in the league and they’ve conceded 2 or more goals in 7 of their 11 away games so far this season.
They take a trip to the “Checkatrade.com Stadium to face a mid-table Crawley side who although haven’t been brilliant this season, they have been decent enough as of late for me to back this. They started their season at home with just 1 goal in their first 6 games which makes you a bit worried as a team goals backer, but since then have gone on to score in their last 9 home games in a row, scoring 2 or more in 5 of those.
Crawley managed to find the net only once in a 4-1 loss against Notts County earlier this season, but they won 2-0 in their last meeting with them here at home and I’m expecting that to be repeated today, though probably without the clean sheet. Crawley are a big price to get something from this game and that’s worth backing too if you’re looking at win-draw-win.
