This weekend in review from 11 games in the Championship we had 19 goals. League one saw twenty 6 in 12 games, and League two totaled 33 goals in a 12 games.
Of course coupled with the overall stats, the trend edges goals in the lower leagues and the over 2.5 goals coupon offer plenty of opportunity to bear fruit this midweek.
Morecambe Vs Crawley
We head first to the Globe Arena where Morecambe host Crawley. Both sides come into this off the back of victories, with Mark Yates’s Crawley getting an important home win to edge them away from relegation. Morecambe extended their unbeaten away streak by beating Wimbledon 5-2 on the road.
Both sides have excellent percentages in goal stats with all of Crawley’s last six ending with over 2.5 goals. The home side have achieved match score lines of three or more in total in five from the last six league games. Both sides have played in games ending over two goals in over two-thirds of their thirteen league games thus far.
The sides play fairly open football with Crawley netting in all but one game on the road. The hosts have failed to net in in all bar one at the Globe Arena and have conceded in every game with the exception of one. I do think under the bright lights, both sides will want to keep their recent form alive, but their styles of play will fall foul of them, compensating only by the goals both are capable of and should see three or more in the game.
Bet: over 2.5 goals @ 1.8
Luton Vs Leyton Orient
Luton host Leyton Orient Tuesday night at Kenilworth road where both sides have sound home and away form coming into this. Both sides in respect have won two, drawn two and lost two home and away. Orients top goal scorer Jay Simpson has netted ten already this season becoming quite the hotshot for goals including a goal on Saturday versus Oxford.
Both sides have played in games ending with three or more in four of the last six, with five of the last six on the head to head seeing goals in the tie.
Luton’s gaffer John Still admitted after the game Saturday that his side had played some sloppy passing in their defeat, their first in six league games. Luton will be aware of the Orient side coming to Kenilworth road and will know that Orient have conceded in every away game this season. The volume of goals from the visitors have compensated for the goals leaked. With both sides in good momentum and scoring power, this game has over’s written all over this.
Bet: over 2.5 goals @ 1.85
Hartlepool Vs Barnet
The bees make the long trip to Victoria Park, where Barnet look to improve on their campaign thus far and play a Hartlepool side that have won just two in six at home lying in seventeenth position in league two.
Both sides enjoyed victories on Saturday and could be said that Hartlepool have played some tight games at home. Half of their home games have ended with three or more. Barnet on the road have not kept a clean sheet conceding at least two in each game but have netted in four of their six on the road.
Hotshot Michael Gash will be on hand for Barnet and has netted in both of the last two games he played in adding to his tally of six. Hartlepool can turn to Billy Paynter who has netted five including the winner on Saturday.
Both sides could do with the points, and Barnet have a tendency to net in the final third of the half with nearly 30% of all goals netted in this period. If you want a game that may see action right to the final whistle this game will be it.
Bet: over 2.5 goals @ 1.95
