It’s been a while. Indeed it has. After a break of a week that turned into months I’ve decided to put fingers to plastic and try and justify myself in the BTTS world once more. I will just blow my own trumpet a little bit and announce that it is me that sits in joint 3rd place in the BTTS tipster competition we are hosting, and that I’ll be more than disappointed if I finish lower than mid table come the end of the season!
Jibber jabber over, I’ve looked at the Tuesday night Capital One Cup fixture list and thought I’d have a crack at the BTTS coupon. I’ve put together a treble of picks that pays just over 5/1 at Betfred. Here is where my money will be going, and as always, why my money is going there.

Fulham v Sheffield United 7.45pm
The first and most confident pick of the night for both teams to score. Championship side Fulham host League 1 favourites Sheffield United in this League Cup game at Craven Cottage, and the first thing that fills me with positivity is the fact that the visitors take this competition very seriously. They were eventually defeated in the semi finals last season in a 3-2 loss against Spurs.
The Blades have recovered well after a shocking 0-4 defeat at Gillingham on opening day – winning their last 4 on the bounce which includes a 1-0 win over Morecambe a fortnight ago in the 1st round of this competition.
Hosts Fulham are yet to take maximum points in a league game this season, although they did progress past League 2 side Wycombe Wanderers to get to this stage. More importantly in my eyes is that the Cottagers have hit BTTS in all 4 of their league games so far this term. Another great geeky stat is that is that Kit Symons side have scored in their last 22 consecutive League Cup games.
All in all, if the Blades bring their game with them this should be an entertaining clash that should include goals goals from each team. BTTS all day long for me.

Bury v Leicester City 7.45pm
Am I mad? Yes of course I am but I don’t think that has affected my decision to pick this game for my coupon. Leicester have made a great start to the season and they fully deserve their lofty 2nd place in the Premier League. But if you’re thinking they won’t make wholesale changes to their side for the trip to Lancashire then you need to take stock for a second.
Bury games packed full of goals so far this term. 5 games played in all competitions, 11 goals scored, 11 goals conceded and BTTS achieved in every match.
The home side will come out strong for this, no doubt about it. Leicester will be full of unfamiliar faces but you’d fancy their youth team to bang a couple past Bury here such have been their results so far.
This game has the potential to be anything, but I’m very confident when I say that I think both sides will chalk the board with a goal or two.

Walsall v Brighton 7.45pm
When a team are on fire they just want to play and that’s exactly what’s happening with Walsall. Four wins on the bounce, including a 4-3 win away from home against Nottingham Forest in the 1st round of this competition puts them in prime position to take on high flying Brighton who currently occupy 2nd position in the Championship.
The Sadlers are expected to name an unchanged side for the visit of the Seagulls and that’s music to my ears. Regarding the visitors, I’d expect fringe and bench players to be given a chance.
Don’t expect the home side to roll over by any means here. I’ve got this down as an exciting clash that could go either way. I just can’t see beyond both teams grabbing the odd goal in 3 or 5. Get it on your coupon.
