Well I did it for the first time ever! Cambuur beating Heerenveen 3-1 Sunday lunchtime landed me 3 consecutive BTTS trebles for the first time in my 25 years betting (although BTTS has only been around for around 6 of them). I was pleased as punch with that and very glad that quite a few of our Twitter followers were also on with us!
I couldn’t be more excited that the next batch of football fixtures is just around the corner. Tuesday night has pretty much a full card of UK action! Without further ado here is where my money is going on the Tuesday night Both teams to score coupon.
Leyton Orient v Coventry
League 1 – 7.45pm
Both teams to score odds – 5/8 – 888sport
This was a game I added to my notebook last week when I wrote my BTTS stats and trends article and I’m still very keen to put them on my coupon, even after being totally outclassed in the FA Cup on Friday against Arsenal (Which League 1 club wouldn’t be?)
That game aside, Coventry had scored and conceded in 11 games in all competitions, and there’s no reason to believe they won’t get back to their old ways when they face 2nd placed Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.
Orient have had over a week to rest since their 2-1 win at Crewe on 18th January so we can expect them to be fresh and hungry for goals. I don’t doubt for 1 second that they’ll fail to score. This game will be nothing like the 0-0 these teams played out in the Football League trophy.
Their league meeting earlier in the season finished 3-1 to Coventry, and I’m expecting something similar in this match in favour of Leyton Orient. Not that it matters. All we need is both teams to score and I’m very confident of that.
Port Vale v Crawley
League 1 – 7.45pm
Both teams to score odds – 4/6 – 888sport
This looks great for goals. Port Vale Crashed valiantly out of the FA Cup at home to Brighton on Saturday so we’ve got to predict a few heavy legs for the clash with Crawley, who have improved in front of goal recently after a period of 11 games with just 1 win.
The visitors have played out 2-2 draws in their most recent games at Coventry and promotion chasing Rotherham, so they stand in good stead against 9th placed Vale. That said, the home side have failed to score just once in their last 10 games at Vale Park, and with Crawley keeping just 1 clean sheet this season on their travels it’s hard to imagine Vale not hitting the back of the net.
Vale beat Crawley 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in October, but Crawley are in much better shape now. Match prediction wise it’s very tough to call indeed but both teams should score at the very least.
Southampton v Arsenal
Premier League – 7.45pm
Both teams to score odds – 3/4 – 888sport
Does Arsenal keeping 4 clean sheets in their last 5 games worry me? Not at all. Southampton are a tough nut to crack at St.Mary’s and I’m predicting a few goals in this one and a tougher game for Arsenal than some might expect.
We’ve got to remember that Southampton have failed to score just twice at home this season; v Chelsea (0-3) and v West Ham (0-0). Manchester City managed a 1-1 draw in early December and Spurs took the spoils 3-2 just before Christmas. The Saints aren’t intimidated by the big teams visiting.
Despite being in great form Arsenal have only kept 3 clean sheets away from home this season (Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Cardiff) and I fully expect Southampton to breach the Gunners back line at some stage.
Arsenal beat Southampton 2-0 at the Emirates in November but I’m expecting it to be much tougher for them at St. Mary’s.
