A QPR crossbar with a throbbing headache this morning and a stone wall penalty not given were all that came between us and picking up yet another treble last night in the League Cup as Exeter narrowly missed out on bringing our bet home!
Thankfully we’ve got a bumper Europa League fixture list tomorrow night to see us through to the weekend once more, here’s the cream of the crop in my eyes:
Bursaspor vs Vojvodina, KO 18:30
Both sides will be looking to progress to the next round of the Europa League with a win here in Turkey. Home side Bursaspor have the advantage of playing on their own turf whilst Serbians Vojvodina have 2 potentially vital away goals after a 2-2 draw back in Serbia last week.
Neither side look shy of scoring nor conceding in recent weeks, with Bursaspor having netted and let goals in in 6 of their last 7 matches. Meanwhile, Vojvodina have seen 4 of their last 5 games result in both teams getting on the scoresheet. Expect more of the same here in a finely poised second leg.
Zurich vs Slovan Liberec, KO 18:30
Zurich welcome Czech side Slovan Liberec to Switzerland hoping to overturn a 1-2 deficit from the first leg 7 days ago. The Swiss side have had a poor start to their domestic campaign boasting just one clean sheet in their opening 4 matches, although they’ve not been struggling to score. In fact they’ve only failed to score on one occasion since December 2012!
The home side have also scored and conceded in 6 of their last 7 outings. Liberec will be keen to prolong their European adventure and a goal will probably be needed if they’re to stop a potential comeback from their opponents here. Just one clean sheet in their last 9 matches, with 7 of those seeing both teams score, it’s hard to bet against another BTTS banker here.
Hapoel Tel Aviv vs Panduri Targu Jiu, KO 18:00
Israel hosts the final leg of our treble, where Hapoel Tel Aviv entertain Panduri Targu Jiu at The Bloomfield Stadium. The visiting Romanians will enter the fray as underdogs after managing just a 1-1 draw when the sides met last week on Jiu’s home soil. However they have started the Romanian domestic season strongly and sit joint top of the table after the first 3 games, boasting a 6 game unbeaten run spanning all competitive games thus far in 2013/14. They’ve also scored and conceded in 4 of their last 5 including the 1-1 draw against today’s opponents last week.
Tel Aviv boast a slightly superior BTTS record to go with their slim advantage in this match, as they have scored and conceded in every one of their last 5 games, here’s hoping for Super 6 come 8pm tomorrow night!
