I was slightly disappointed with the results of my football tips at the weekend. While Middlesbrough did the business for me by only scoring 1 goal, both Wolves let me down (I backed them draw no bet) and Fulham were trounced 3-0 by West Ham (I advised both teams to score).
However we are treated to a rare full Premier League fixture list over the next couple of days so I’m hoping the next couple of days proves fruitful. Good luck if you follow my selections.
Burnley v Watford – Tuesday 7.45pm
Bet – Burnley win – 23/20
Two teams meet here who are both struggling to find a win. However, Burnley had won 8 consecutive games prior to their current spell of 5 games without a win (3 draws and 2 losses) which includes a 0-2 home loss to West Ham in the Capital One Cup. Although The Clarets will be worried about their lack of recent wins they can be forgiven for not collecting all 3 points in a couple of their recent displays.
Watford on the other hand are really struggling to get things together. They’ve picked up just 2 points in their last 6 Championship games and have failed to score a single goal in their last two (home games against Bolton and Yeovil, 0-1 and 0-3 respectively).
Despite dropping some points recently, Burnley still sit in 2nd place behind Leicester in the league and will be looking to close the gap tonight, although Leicester do look likely winners away at Sheffield Wednesday.
Watford can’t be trusted at present, and Burnley are the more likely team to bounce back from recent failures.
Queens Park Rangers v Bournemouth – Tuesday 7.45pm
Bet – Queens Park Rangers -1 asian handicap – 2.07 Ladbrokes
QPR suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of 18th placed Doncaster Rovers on Saturday (lost 2-1 after leading) and Harry Redknapp will of undoubtedly made his feelings known.
Rangers are a quality outfit at this level, and while Charlie Austin is fit and well they will score goals and win games.
Redknapp’s team are undefeated at Loftus Road this season in the Championship; dropping just 2 points in in 8 games (a 0-0 draw with Brighton). Bournemouth have really struggled on their travels this season (P8 W1 D3 L4) and won’t have the strength to keep QPR at bay.
I’m taking the -1 asian handicap here which means that if QPR win by exactly 1 clear goal I’ll get a refund, but a bigger winning margin will provide a nice return at over even money. I’m very confident indeed of a refund at the very least.
