Yesterday wasn’t exactly my best day ever, but profit is profit, and my football tips returned a 50% strike rate over the two selections and provided me with a little bit of funds (bets to level stakes). Newcastle were my strongest tip and they duly obliged, but unfortunately Blackpool couldn’t pick up at least a draw at Burnley.
Anyway, on to Sunday’s action. Here are a couple of football bets I like.
Southampton v Tottenham 1.30pm
Advised bet: Both teams to score – 4/5 SkyBet
Firstly, the 4/5 odds are very tasty at Sky Bet so if you’re going to bet on this selection I suggest you put it on at Sky Bet. Paddy Power and Boylesports go as short as 4/6 so I think we are getting plenty of value.
Southampton just can’t find a result at present. They’ve been a revelation since the arrival of Pochetinno, but their early season form is beginning to tail off now. They’ve failed to win in their last 5 Premier League games, although looking at their opponents they’ve had to play the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle in the last month so the 2 point return form their last 5 doesn’t look quite as bad.
One thing you can rely on them for is goals though. Despite their lean patch they only failed to score against Arsenal at the Emirates, and have scored in all but 1 of their home games this season.
Spurs, under the guidance of Tim Sherwood at least for now will need to have their shooting boots on as they’ve been guilty of not scoring enough in patches this term, but if you’re going to score it’s likely to be against a team like Southampton.
Sunderland, Hull, Villa and City have all grabbed at least 1 goal at St. Mary’s this season and you’d have to think that Spurs will break them down at some stage of the game. The match itself is too tight to call in my opinion, but there should be goals from each team.
Inter Milan v AC Milan 7.45pm
Advised bet: Inter Milan win – 7/4 Betfred
A huge clash on our TV screens this evening, and one that I think Internazionale will emerge victors at an attractive price.
It’s hard to believe that AC Milan sit in 12th place in Serie A on just 19 points after 16 games. That’s 24 points behind current league leaders Juventus, and 9 behind bitter rivals Internazionale who sit in 5th position.
Inter hold recent bragging rights. AC have failed to beat them in their last 4 meetings since January 2012. Inter have won 3 and drawn 1; scoring 7 and conceding 3.
Milan are showing signs of a revival though. Although they’ve drawn too many games (5 of their last 8) they are actually undefeated in 8 games, their last match being a 2-2 home draw with Roma.
Inte ron the other hand were dealt a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Napoli last time out and will be looking to make up for that loss immediately, at AC Milan’s expense.
These derby’s are always very closely contested but I think that the 7/4 is slightly too big for an Inter win. I’ll be cheering on the Nerazzurri.
