Getafe vs. Almeria- 7.00pm
Spain – Friday – EVENS with Ladbrokes
La Liga got underway last weekend, where we saw the Champions, Atletico drop points. Friday night is where we kick off this weekend of Spanish football as Getafe host Almeria, in one of the less glamorous ties on the coupon but a very tasty one for us here a Goals Galore.
Getafe didn’t get off to the greatest of starts, as they found themselves conceding three goals to Celta Vigo in a 3-1 defeat. I am more than confident that on the back of that display they will concede at least once here. However, will they score? Getafe have much more quality going forward with Alvaro and Sammir who can provide goals. Getafe should be one to keep any eye on throughout the season for BTTS and I can’t turn down BTTS at even money with Ladbrokes.
Almeria have similar problems at the back, where their defence is not strong enough to keep cleans sheets, while their forward line continues to produce goals. This is why this tie looks made for BTTS. The opening match of the season saw them take a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Espanyol. If you include pre-season ties, Almeria have seen both teams score in their last six games, which is staggering. Expect it to be seven here!
Werder Bremen vs. Hoffenheim – 2.30pm Saturday
Germany 8/15 with Ladbrokes
The Bundesliga also started last week as we sit back and watch Bayern take all the honours. Or will we? Dortmund and Leverkusen should mount quite a challenge this year and perhaps even Hoffenheim, who we see featured in our treble today. Werder Bremen host Hoffenheim on Saturday and both sides will be motivated points.
Werder Bremen started their campaign with a 2-2 draw away to Hertha Berlin. A result they will be happy with, as were we, when we saw goals going in at either end. At home, Werder will be expected to attack, despite coming in as underdogs on their own patch. This fixture always provides goals too. In the same match last season, Werder Bremen won 3-1. The reverse tie ended an incredible 4-4. More of this please. The 8/15 looks great at Ladbrokes.
Hoffenheim looked Hoffenhot last week (Sorry- I won’t do that again). At home they comfortably beat a decent Augsburg outfit in a game that finished 2-0 and will be looking to continue their winning start in game week two. Incredibly the head to heads between the sides return some lovely stats for us, as mentioned, there are always goals. Going back to 2010, these two sides have met eight times, with both teams scoring in every game!!
Bodo/Glimt vs. Valarenga – 7.00pm Saturday
Norway – 4/9 with Ladbrokes
The Norwegian Tippeligaen reaches the final third of the season, as Bodo/Glimt take on Europa-chasing Valarenga. The Tippeligaen has not let us down this season providing us with plenty of goals each week and this tie looks the pick of game week 22.
Bodo/Glimt who host today’s tie sit in 9th place, which may sound like a mid-table position, but they are just five points away from the relegation zone where Sogndal, Brann and Sandnes are occupied. Motivation is high. 17 goals in 10 games at home is enough to persuade me that Bodo/Glimt can find the net here. Earlier on in the season, in the reverse tie, Valarenga ran out 3-1 winners. I am expecting a tighter game but one with plenty of goals once more.
Valerenga have their distractions too, but theirs are focussed towards the upper echelons of the division. Just four points separate them and Stromsgodset and every result is now important. Valarenga have lost just four of their 11 games on the road this season, scoring 19 along the way. Their last five games have been open affairs with all five seeing both teams scoring, including an incredible 5-5 draw away from home to Viking.
The difference in this game may well be the goal machine that is Icelandic striker, Vidar Kjartansson, top scorer in Norway with an awesome 21 goals, the second top scorer is seven goals behind. Anytime goal?
