After a bore draw in Ireland cost us the treble last time out, it’s time to dust ourselves off and get our eyes firmly back on the prize of some 2nd leg action.
Traditionally the last chance for these teams to progress to the next round of European football provides more open contests and ultimately more goals as the clubs go gung ho in an attempt to keep their European dreams alive, and this is obviously fantastic news for us Goals Galore punters!
Here’s my selections this time round:
Zalgiris vs St Patrick’s
The league leaders from Ireland and Lithuania do battle here with the tie delicately poised after a 2-2 draw last week. With both sides in fine free scoring form at the top of their respective tables, and with both sides looking to progress after a 4-goal fest in Ireland last week, this meeting shows no signs of slowing down in the goals stakes.
Turnovo vs Suduva
Another first leg that had no shortage of goals last week was fellow Lithuanians Suduva’s match as they hosted Macedonia’s Turnovo. The underdogs have home advantage and an impressive 2-2 away draw to hold onto when Suduva come to town tomorrow evening. Turnovo’s last 4 matches have seen no less than 18 goals fly in but just one apiece will suffice for us here!
Mladost vs Videoton
Mladost must overturn a 2-1 scoreline from last week if they are to progress to the 2nd round and will be hoping for a big performance in front of their home crowd. Videoton know that an away goal could kill off the tie and after scoring 6 in their last 3 away from home they’ll be confident of finding the net again. Mladost haven’t drawn a blank at home since March though, so go into the game with a similar level of confidence as the visitors.
