The highlight of the midweek schedule comes from the Champions League as 32 of Europe’s top clubs fight for more vital points on matchday two of club’s football’s greatest competition. And we’ll be praying for goals, goals, goals.
More specifically, we’ll be hoping to see plenty of drama from the three games we’ve selected below. With two games on Tuesday and one on Wednesday, this acca will hopefully lead to 48 hours of excitement that culminates in a winner.
With the treble paying out at odds of over 4/1, it has to be worth a midweek punt.
Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid
The pick of the fixtures on matchday two undoubtedly comes from Signal Iduna Park as Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid renew their Champions League rivalry. Most neutrals will be tuning into this one, and it shouldn’t disappoint.
Goals have been a regular theme for the Germans in recent weeks. In fact, Thomas Tuchel’s men have hit 20 goals in their last four games alone, and will be looking to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and co. for more against the current Champions League holders.
Dortmund have every reason to be confident, especially as the Blancos have kept just one clean sheet in their last six and enter the game on the back of successive score draws. Nevertheless, with Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Alvaro Morata, the visitors aren’t exactly short of goalscoring options.
Neither defence is terrible, but the respective attacking units should be too strong. Goals are surely on the cards.

Leicester City v Porto
Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes settled into Champions League with consummate ease with that stunning 3-0 win in Belgium two weeks ago. However, the Premier League champions know that they’re in for a tougher test as they welcome Porto to the King Power Stadium.
Leicester can be quietly confident on home soil, especially as Arsenal are the only team to stop them scoring this term, and will be looking to Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez to inspire a magical night. At the very least, they’ll be hoping to cap the first Champions League home night with a goal.
Porto aren’t one of very strongest teams, which will give Leicester hope. Nonetheless, the Portuguese giants are an experienced outfit and should show that here. After being held to a 1-1 home draw by Copenhagen, it’s imperative that they secure a positive result. Having seen Leicester decimated at Old Trafford on Saturday, it’s hard to see the visitors firing a blank.
A score draw wouldn’t surprise us. Either way, we’re backing both teams to score.

Besiktas v Dynamo Kiev
One of the most intriguing battles on Wednesday night sees Dynamo Kiev head to Besiktas, and both teams will be desperate for points in a very competitive Group B. While we don’t think it will be the most dramatic game of the night, it is one where both teams are more than capable of scoring.
The need for points is particularly apparent for Kiev after their opening defeat to Napoli, and Sergei Rebrov’s men will be eager to use the momentum of their 4-0 weekend league win to full advantage. They certainly have the attacking quality to trouble a home defence that has kept just one clean sheet in seven. The main issue, however, is whether the firepower of Junior Moraes and co. will be enough to compensate for their own defensive weaknesses.
Kiev had been in poor form before their weekend win while Besiktas are unbeaten in 90 minutes this term. Cenk Tosun, Ricardo Qaresma, and Vincent Aboubakar will all be hoping to capitalise on any Dynamo vulnerabilities, and we’d expect the hosts to continue their sequence of scoring in every game.
We’d probably edge towards a home win, but think the smarter money is on goals at the Vodafone Arena. Let’s hope our two Tuesday picks have already won too.
