The Champions League is back! As 32 teams embark on what should be another fascinating group phase, we’ll be looking to bag a lovely midweek winner with our 6/1 treble on the BTTS market.
Our selections are split over the two nights of drama; let’s hope it ends with an extra £62 profit in our accounts ahead of an equally tasty weekend of domestic action. Good luck!
PSG v Arsenal (Tuesday 13 th September. 7:45PM)
The headline clash on Tuesday night sees Arsenal head to the Parc des Princes, and the Gunners will be quietly confident about beating the French champions. However, the Premier League club will know not to expect things all their own way in Paris.
PSG have looked a shadow of their former selves following the departure of manager Laurent Blanc, and key stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Luiz and Ezequiel Lavezzi in 2016. The hosts have already dropped five points this term, but they have at least managed to score in every game this season and will expect Angel Di Maria and co. to keep that run going against Arsenal.
The Gunners have more than enough firepower of their own, though, with Lucas Perez joining the already impressive frontline of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez. With Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil providing the ammunition, an away goal looks likely. We wouldn’t want to predict a winner, but goals should be on the menu. Back both teams to score.

Club Brugge v Leicester City (Wednesday 14 th September. 7:45PM)
It’s not a dream, Leicester City are in the Champions League and Wednesday’s trip to Belgium will be a momentous occasion for the Foxes. However, Claudio Ranieri’s men aren’t in the competition simply to make up the numbers, and will be targeting a positive result in Brugge.
The Premier League champions haven’t enjoyed the greatest of starts to 2016-17, but Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are more than capable of inspiring a win here while Ahmed Musa will be dreaming of his first big moment at the club. Meanwhile, record signing Islam Silmani could feature too.
Nevertheless, the Foxes have shown defensive weaknesses, with the loss of N’Golo Kante hitting them harder than they’d have imagined. Given that the hosts have scored in 18 straight competitive matches at the Jan Breydelstadion, Jelle Vossen and co. can be quietly confident too.
On paper, this group could be wide open. A win in this opening fixture could be massive for either side. It should be an explosive contest, and we’re predicting goals at both ends.

Juventus v Sevilla (Wednesday 14 th September. 7:45PM)
Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus have started the season as expected, with a 100% record, but the Old Lady has conceded in both of its home matches thus far. With a very talented Sevilla visiting
Turin on matchday one of the Champions League, that BTTS record could well continue.
The Spaniards enter this clash on the back of a 2-1 win at the weekend while all four of their registered strikers have already found this target this term. The change of management hasn’t done too much harm to the visitors, and Jorge Sampaoli will be looking to continue the good work of former coach Unai Emery – now of PSG – in 2016-17. A point or better in this one would be massive.
While the Rojiblancos have more than enough quality to score, they could be in for a tough night at the other end. Record signing Gonzalo Higuain has started on fire at the Juventus Stadium while Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala will provide plenty of attacking threat too.
The hosts are likely to win, but Sevilla can push them hard. At over evens, this selection is well worthy of its inclusion.
