Liverpool 3/1 offer at Betfair[/toggle]Preston North End V Chesterfield
League One side Preston may have suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss at Walsall on Saturday but the Lilywhites will be hopeful of bouncing back against newly-promoted Chesterfield.
Simon Grayson’s side are unbeaten at Deepdale scoring in all four matches there, and should be full of confidence against a Spireites side who lost their last away outing to Scunthorpe. However, that 2-0 defeat was in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and Chesterfield have actually scored four times in three league trips on the road.
That means that the hosts may need to hit the target more than once in order to win this one but, with the likes of Joe Garner amongst their ranks, the home fans will remain optimistic.
Preston’s current position is a little lower than expected but a strong home form should maintain their chances of at least reaching the play-offs. Grayson will demand three points on home turf and we think they will just about edge this encounter.
However, you simply cannot overlook the scoring endeavours of Chesterfield’s Eoin Doyle and for that reason we’re also backing both teams to score.

Bury V Stevenage Borough
Down to League Two and high-flying Bury are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten streak. We’re backing the Gigg Lane club to pick up another three points against struggling Stevenage.
The visitors started the new campaign in particularly poor form but have won two of their past three matches to climb up to 12th. Graham Westley’s side are more than capable of making a push for promotion but will need to improve their consistency if they are going to sustain a genuine challenge.
On a brighter note, they have at least been finding the target on a frequent basis. Boro have amassed a total of nine goals from seven matches. including at least one in each of their most recent five. However, the trip to Gigg Lane will eb difficult and a defence that has already conceded five in three away game could prove to be their downfall.
Bury have won each of their past two home encounters via a 2-1 scoreline. That might not be a bad shout here.

York City V Luton Town
Staying in League Two and newly-promoted Luton have found life far more difficult than expected in recent weeks and could be in for another disappointing night as they head to Bootham Crescent.
The Hatters picked up a first win in five with a weekend win over Cheltenham but John Still’s men may find it hard going against a rigid York City. Nigel Worthinghton’s home side suffered a first defeat in 23 league matches with a 2-0 loss to table-topping Burton Albion but the Minstermen will be looking to get back to winning ways immediately on home soil.
For all their good work, though, York have kept just one clean sheet this season and this is an area that the visitors will look to exploit. The Hatters must score more frequently if they are going to enjoy a productive campaign and this will be a priority for Still’s side in the coming weeks.
Nevertheless, York will be confident of keeping their unbeaten home start to 2014/15 going with another three points and they should condemn Luton to a third defeat in four.
