As we have witnessed this week, teams are still axing managers in the hope of any sort of advantage that can be the difference between relegation and survival and sides at the top playing more attacking football than ever to get European places, titles, Play Off places and promotion. We have a treble of games where we are predicting winners where both sides score. Take a look.
Fulham v Norwich City – 3.00pm Saturday
Fulham to win and BTTS is 13/4 with Ladbrokes
This match is the biggest that both teams have played in years. This result with contribute significantly towards the fate of both clubs. Fulham are the team with all the momentum having beaten Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park last Saturday which has sparked their second ‘Great Escape’. Goals are never a problem when it comes to Fulham as BTTS lands so often and we have seen them many a time in our articles this season here at Goals Galore. This may be the first time we have predicted the London side to win though, but with home advantage and the confidence gained from last Saturday’s surprise victory, we see them as favourites. Norwich too have an abysmal away record having lost three quarters of their games and have lost their last six away ties.
Norwich cannot afford to lose. Despite their form away from home they desperately need to turn it round here or relegation is looking more and more likely. The Canaries desperation came to a head this week when they sacked manager Chris Hughton and have promoted u18s coach, Neil Adams as manager for the remained of the campaign. I have already stated i expect a Fulham win but BTTS looks a given. Fulham have conceded in 81% of their home games this season and almost three quarters of their games see three goals or more. It could easily be a goal fest here. Norwich will be just as desperate for three points as Fulham are, knowing their last four fixtures see them come up against Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. You will struggle to make a case for a single point out of those four making this tie imperative for victory.
Millwall v Watford – 3.00pm Saturday
Watford to win and BTTS is 4/1 with Ladbrokes
Millwall picked up a huge win on Tuesday night when they shocked everyone with a 1-0 victory over high flying Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium. A few days earlier they also travelled North to Nottingham Forest and came away with all three points. A late push means survival is becoming an every increasing possibility.
The two away wins are significant in Millwall’s season however at The Den they haven’t won in their last seven attempts. With an in form Watford making the short trip South I think Millwall’s mini run is about to come to an end. Not without a fight though, and Ian Holloway’s side have a new found confidence which will be enough to see them find the net in front of their home fans.
Watford have been picking up wins too and will surely take advantage of Millwall’s knack of conceding at home as they have done in 80% of their league games this season and Watford have found the net in each of their last eight.
Striker Troy Deeney is on cracking form and cannot stop scoring which has seen him reach 21 league goals for the season and is third top scorer behind Jordan Rhodes and Ross McCormack.
The Hornets have a game in hand over the sides above them and wins in their remaining six league fixtures could see Watford snatching the final Play Off place. This Watford side have plenty to play for and won the reverse fixture 4-0- expect three points.
Crewe Alexandra v Wolves – 3.07pm Saturday
Wolves to win and BTTS is 13/5 with Ladbrokes
Crewe are on the edge of the oblivion as they fight out for survival for another campaign in League One, sitting in 21st they find themselves on 43 points along with Carlisle United, Tranmere Rovers and Colchester United. A game against top of the table Wolves is the last match they would want at this stage are likely to fall to another defeat. Perhaps a hammering. Even so, I expect the Railwaymen to score as they found that net at least once in their previous eight matches and have scored in their last 12 home games. Saturday’s tough test looks like a defeat but with stats like the above, I can see an Alexandra goal.
Wolves are top of the league and are looking good for a title winning season to fire them back up where they were last season- the Championship. Up against strugglers Crewe they will take confidence from the fact the opposition have not won in their last five home games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 matches.
Last weekend Wolves dispatched Peterborough 2-0 at Molineux and will have plenty of confidence knowing their destination is almost finalised for next season. The last four games Crewe have lost at home have been either 2-1 or 3-1 defeats which would have fulfilled our market. Expect another.
This treble returns an incredible £765 from a £10 stake with Ladbrokes
