Not only is it Easter weekend which will bring us plenty of chocolate, it should also bring us plenty of goals. Check out our Match Result & BTTS treble…
Doncaster Rovers v Derby County – 7.30pm Friday
Derby County to win and BTTS is 29/10 with Ladbrokes
The Keepmoat Stadium has been where Doncaster have sealed the majority of their points this season, a few more will be required before they can seal safety for another season as they are just three points above the bottom three. Paul Dickov’s side have suffered three defeats in a row and I expect Derby to take advantage of that by inflicting another loss to their record in the evening game on Good Friday. Doncaster still need points for their survival quest and even though i expect them to lose, their home form and requirement for results should see them find the back of the net.
Victory for Derby will seal a Championship play-off place as Steve McLaren’s side go on the hunt for automatic promotion. There is a slim chance they can overtake Burnley and McLaren will leave no stone unturned as they look to do just that. County have already racked up ten victories on the road this season and they are favourites here to make it 11. Head to head, the Rams also come out top having won the last three games between the pair, the most recent being a 3-1 victory at Pride Park back in December.
Cardiff City v Stoke City – 3.00pm Saturday
Cardiff City to win and BTTS is 4/1 with Ladbrokes
Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer describing their task of survival requiring a miracle, Cardiff can still stay up but will require maximum points in their home games and with this being the easiest tie on paper for the Bluebirds- it is a must win game. Stoke are destined for a mid table place and can afford defeat whereas Cardiff cannot afford anything less than three points. Kenwyne Jones faces up against his former club and will want to make a statement. Anytime goal scorer? After last weekends shock victory over Southampton, confidence should be through the roof.
Stoke have had a great season, not only are they safe from a relegation battle but manager Mark Hughes has managed to get them playing more of a fluid passing game than the more structured approach Stoke fans were used to under former manager Tony Pulis. The Potters are four points away from their highest ever points tally in the Premier League in a season many predicted they would struggle in. I am backing a Cardiff win but on the Welsh side’s quest for goals, i expect Stoke to find enough space to find the back of the net.
Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham – 12.45pm Saturday
Tottenham Hotspur to win and BTTS is 19/10 with Ladbrokes
With it looking likely that another change of manager will be taking place in the summer for Tottenham Hotspur, Tim Sherwood is currently forming his CV for his next potential managerial role, he therefore will be desperate for results. The Europa League is the target at present and with their remainder games being ties they will be favourites for, it is an achievable target for Tottenham. This is a must win London derby for both sides which should lead to plenty of goals. Spurs have the quality on their side to ensure it is them to get the majority of them.
Fulham have all of the momentum out of the sides struggling for survival at the foot of the Premier League, after registering back to back wins against rivals Aston Villa and Norwich City. Previously favourites for the drop and bottom of the league, the Cottagers now look likely to stay up but still have so much to do.
A result here would contribute significantly to their task and with their current confidence being as high as it has been all season; I expect them to at least score. Influential midfielder Lewis Holtby will be unable to play against his parent club, which will also be a blow for Felix Magath’s side. Away from home they have a dreadful record and even though a defeat looks on the cards, I can see BTTS landing.
