The English football season is now very much coming towards its climax, and we should expect to see plenty of drama across the top five division over the coming weeks. So let’s kickstart the run-in with a winning BTTS treble on Saturday.
We’ve picked three games that we think will end with both teams on the scoresheet. It doesn’t matter who wins; as long as all six teams score, we’ll be laughing.
Good luck.
Newcastle United v Swansea City
If you asked Rafa Benitez if he’d rather be at Newcastle or Real Madrid, I think we all know that he’d want to be at the biggest club in the world. Unfortunately, they might be playing Championship football season, especially if they don’t get a win against Swansea.
The Magpies have no choice but to chase the win at St James’ Park, but they can be quietly confident against a Swansea side that reached the magical 40-point mark with last weekend’s win over Chelsea. The hosts certainly have the bigger incentive, and in the recent scoring form of Aleksandar Mitrovic might just fire them to victory.
Jonjo Shelvey’s January move from Swansea to Newcastle has proven to be about as smart as Jeremy Kyle guest, although I’m sure £80k takes the sting out of it, but the England man will be hoping to inspire his side. They can score, but we’re just not sure it’ll be enough.
After all, Newcastle have leaked 22 home goals this term while failing to keep a clean sheet in seven Premier League outings. Francesco Guidolin’s men are more than capable of extending that sequence, which is why we’re backing both teams to score.

Exeter City v Northampton Town
It’s not Cobblers, Northampton Town will be plying their trade in League One next season after they sealed promotion with last week’s draw against Bristol Rovers. However, they’ll be desperate to seal the title at Exeter, and we can expect another afternoon of goals involving the champions elect.
Incredibly, Northampton’s last three matches have all ended in 2-2 draws while seven of their past eight have ended in BTTS winners. The goals are certainly flowing for Marc Richards, Ricky Holmes and co. However, keeping opponents quiet has been a slight problem, and that could be the case again here.
Paul Tisdale’s Grecians have found the net 29 times at home, although that’s also the number they’ve conceded at St James’ Park. They haven’t fired a blank in 11 League Two matches either, and should have no trouble scoring against an away side that can’t keep clean sheets right now.
Northampton scored a 3-0 win in the reverse clash, but we think it’ll be a lot closer here. We’re predicting goals at both ends.

Southport v Lincoln City
Goals have been a regular feature for Conference rivals Southport and Lincoln, who played out a 3-1 at Sincil Bank just eight weeks ago, and we can’t see any reason to think they’ll dry up as they collide at Haig Avenue.
At home, Southport have hit 29 goals and conceded 38 in 21. Incredibly, those stats are identical for Lincoln’s away form too. If that wasn’t reason to be confident about goals, the Imps have been involved in six BTTS winners in seven matches on the road.
With Louis Almond and Matt Rhead on the pitch, both teams boast a regular source of goals too. Meanwhile, the fact neither team is likely to leave the division means that there’s a little less pressure, which will hopefully lead to a more expansive game.
We’re not quite sure which way this one will go, but we expect to see plenty of entertainment. Let’s hope that they complete our treble.
