Leyton Orient v Bristol City
7.45pm Tuesday
Leyton Orient to win and BTTS – 29/10 – Coral
Leyton Orient are on a mini poor run having lost their last two games against Rotherham and Peterborough- both finishing 2-1. I am forecasting the same scoreline but in favour of the Orient on Tuesday.
There is no doubt that the O’s deserved their last two defeats having defended horribly to concede twice and I cannot see this defending miraculously improving over night. I am therefore predicting an away goal but I cannot see this side losing three games in a row with the talented attacking players they possess. Mooney continues to find the net and I believe his will do so again here and get Orient a much needed victory.
Bristol City, like others at the bottom of the table are starting to get desperate as they panic at finding themselves stuck in the bottom four of League One. City have scored a goal in each of their last 11 games with eight of those seeing both teams scoring including in each of their last seven games, with three of these ties being lost. BTTS looks a given but in recent times when the Robins have gone up against the top sides they have been defeated including 3-1 losses to both Brentford and Wolves and I believe they will subjected to another defeat.
Carlisle United v Bradford City
7.45pm Tuesday
Carlisle to win and BTTS – 9/2 – Coral
It is squeaky bum time at Carlisle as they languish just above the relegation zone. Currently in 20th place, they are a single point above drop, with an improving Sheffield United making a surge to safety. Worrying times. On Tuesday evening they face a Bradford City outfit who have had a very decent season in their return to League One.
The Cumbrians have only managed a clean sheet at Brunton Park twice this season and I expect them to concede again here. I am actually predicting a home win though, they did lose at the weekend to Gillingham 2-1 to add to some already poor form, and they need to start winning and will see this as an ideal opportunity against a Bradford side who have not won in 12 games.
As mentioned Bradford have had a good season and look like they’re going to avoid relegation which was the goal this campaign but at one point the Play Off’s looked a reasonable target. With no win since November, a mid table place looks far more appropriate. Carlisle love to ship a goal or two and as they will view this as a must-win game will come forward all too often to leaving plenty of gaps at the back for the Bantams to take full advantage. Parkinson needs a win as well and despite me going for three points for Carlisle I definitely cannot see a clean sheet for the Cumbrian’s.
Fulham v Liverpool
8.00pm Wednesday
Liverpool to win and BTTS is 17/10 – Coral
It is now or never for Fulham, with each game requiring precious points in their quest for a great escape. The Whites fought tooth and nail on Sunday afternoon and gave every ounce of energy to come away with a point from Champions Manchester United and that sapping performance will certainly take it’s toll on an already weak squad.
We are expecting to see the debut of record transfer Kostas Mitroglou which will only help the Cottagers struggles in front of goal and he could be one to save them. After the tough 90 minutes against United, I can only see Fulham faltering to a defeat here but considering their desperation for points and the fact they have only failed to score just once in the league at Craven Cottage this season, I can see them getting a goal.
Liverpool are on red hot form after dispatching Arsenal with ultimate ease on Saturday in a 5-1 destruction. Not only are Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez scoring frequently, Raheem Stirling pitched in with a brace showing their goal scoring credentials all over the pitch. If the SaS don’t get you then maybe Skrtl will after he too found the back of the net twice.
Pool are on track for the fourth Champions League spot which would round off a fantastic season for Brendan Rodgers and his side however if they are to fulfil their aim, the Reds will need to be winning games like this verses sides at the foot of the table. Fulham have lost many more than they have won at Craven Cottage and with the attacking threat Liverpool carry it could be a rout here against the leakiest defence in the division.
