After the excitement of last week’s big Kick-Off in the Premier League, it’s time we simmered down and gave some attention back to the Goals Galore haven that is The Football League.
Plenty of opening day drama ensued in England’s top league but there weren’t enough net busting action for my liking with too many teams feeling their way into the 2013/14 season.
Therefore, we shall look to the lower leagues for some BTTS bankers!

Tranmere vs Peterborough
No Goals Galore Acca can be stood in greater stead without the presence of the GG Gods that ate Peterborough United. Finally out of his father’s shadow, Ferguson Jnr has made an impeccable start in his bid to return to the Championship, winning his opening 3 games and scoring a hatful of goals in the process. They’ve scored and conceded in each of their last 3 too, seeing a total of 15 goals in the process. Home side Tranmere have just one point in the league thus far but they’ve scored in all 4 of their games this season and have a 100% BTTS record in the league with a total of 13 goals in those 3 league matches!
Bradford City vs Sheffield United
A tasty local derby takes place at The Coral Windows stadium when The Blades travel to Bradford. A battle between two former giants who have fond not too distant memories of dining at England’s top table in the Premier League commences from 3pm and with both sides in similar form it’ll be a hard fought encounter but neither side should be shy in front of goal as they’ve both scored in all of their games this season whilst neither defence is particularly strong. Expect fireworks, and goals!
Chesterfield vs Southend
League Two high fliers Chesterfield and Southend will fight it out for the 3 points and with both teams in free scoring form netting in every game this season, fans will not be disappointed at the Proact Stadium tomorrow afternoon. Something will have to give though with both sides boasting unbeaten records thus far. The home side will be out for revenge after The Seasiders did the double over them in the League last term.
