Bayern Munich v Arsenal – 7.45pm Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 9/10 – BetVictor
When these two met in England a fortnight ago it ended 2-0 to Bayern Munich after a 37 minute red card to goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny essentially ended the tie. Arsenal therefore need to get goals early and are likely to attack from the off which should leave us with a very open game.
In the Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich has won every single game this season as well as their last 16 games home and away, so an Arsenal victory today would be a huge shock, let alone the German’s failing to find the back of the net. Not much more to say other than a quick reminder that Bayern have scored in every single game they have played this season.
Arsenal will take confidence from their victory in the FA Cup Quarter Final over Everton at the Emirates over the weekend which leads them favourites to lift the trophy in May. Arsene Wenger did however have one eye on this midweek tie as he made changes to the side that is likely to set up verses Bayern. That move tells us all we need to know about the Gunners intentions here- he believes they can turn the match around. I expect the London side to go out on the attack and look for the win straight from the start, therefore i see goals galore.
Swindon Town v Wolves – 7.45pm Tuesday
Both teams to score tips – 5/6 – BetVictor
League One really is heating up and these two sides have heaps to play for in the final stages of the campaign. Swindon need to turn their form around if they are to make a late bid for a Play Off place and Wolves cannot afford to slip up as they head the league table with Leyton Orient and Brentford closely behind.
Swindon rely mainly on home results with 70th of their total points being won at the County Ground. The Robins have however hit a rut in their season, with no win in their last five home games although they did still find the net in three of them. The Wiltshire club need a result here to keep them in touching distance of an opportunity for promotion otherwise it will be a gap too far. I can see them snatching a surprise point here, in a score draw.
Wolves are quite obviously favourites after a run which has seen them win EIGHT matches in a row now. A great record and confidence must be through the roof as promotion straight back to the Championship is now in their hands. Wolves have won 3-0 in each of their last three games and it would take a miracle for Swindon to keep a clean sheet here.
Barcelona v Manchester City – 7.45pm Wednesday
Both teams to score odds – 4/7 – BetVictor
Manchester City have a mammoth task ahead of them if they are overturn the two goal deficit they suffered in the first leg at the City of Manchester Stadium. Two weeks ago it finished 2-0 as Demichellis got sent off on 53 minutes when the game was tightly poised at 0-0. A Messi penalty and a 90th minute goal from Dani Alves has left the English side facing an exit unless they can pull off the shock of the season on Wednesday night.
Barcelona are in the perfect position due to their two goal lead. The Catalan Giants could quite easily just sit back and hold on to their advantage but that is just not in their nature. Manchester City will have to come forward in the search for goals and in doing so, will leave plenty of space for Barca to exploit. Tata Martino will be well aware of this and has the players to take advantage and score a few goals.
Manchester City need to go all out for goals straight from kick off which is going to lead to a very open match at the Nou Camp. The 2-0 set back at home would have likely not occurred if Demichellis had kept himself on the pitch for 90 minutes and City have plenty of players to score the goals in Spain. The Sky Blues have fire power in Alvaro Negredo, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure and with the Citizens desperate for goals, I cannot see them failing with a blank.
