Hi guys and gals, Martin here. For this weekend’s action, I’m looking to the English fixtures and concentrating on the anytime goalscorer market with high hopes of a big win.
I’ve picked three players that I’ll be backing as singles. However, I’ll also be playing the three selections as a treble too. Here are my tips:
Chelsea V Aston Villa. 3PM
BET: Eden Hazard (Chelsea) anytime goalscorer @ 7/4 with Betfred
It’s almost impossible to comprehend the poor start that the Champions have had to endure, but the international break could give them the chance to start afresh. In my opinion, Jose Mourinho’s men couldn’t ask for a better fixture than Aston Villa at home.
The Blues have enjoyed some big wins against Villa at Stamford Bridge recently, including an 8-0 win three seasons ago and a 3-0 triumph last term. They’ve got to be due to hammer someone pretty soon. Sorry Tim, I think it could be your boys.
As for goalscorers, it’s hard to look past last year’s Player of the Year. Eden Hazard hasn’t exactly hit top gear yet this season, but he’ll be confident about putting in a big performance against the sorry Villains.
It’s a big opportunity for both player and club. I’m quite confident about this one. If Chelsea do get three or four goals, 7/4 on Hazard looks a steal.
Coventry City V Blackpool. 3PM
BET: Adam Armstrong (Coventry) anytime goalscorer @5/4 with SkyBet
First off, you have to say congratulations to Blackpool for their recent upturn in fortunes. The owners might be a disgrace to football, but their fans full deserve this better run of form. Unfortunately for the Tangerines, they could well get squashed by high-flying Coventry.
The Sky Blues have been brilliant at the Ricoh, and the goals of Adam Armstrong have been a major feature. The youngster is League One’s leading scorer right now, scoring eight goals and opening the scoring on four separate occasion.
As a team, Coventry have been scoring over two goals per game at home. They should have no problems extending their tally against the relegation battlers, and their main man has to be their main inspiration.
It would be a huge surprise if Coventry don’t find the target. Armstrong has to be the leading candidate.
Newport County V Portsmouth. 3PM
BET: Gary Roberts (Portsmouth) anytime goalscorer @ 21/10
Paul Cook’s Pompey have been favourites for the League Two title every season that they’ve been in the division. But it genuinely looks like being their year and they can send another warning shot to their rivals with a big win in Wales.
Rock bottom Newport are unlikely to put up much of a challenge, and I’ve no doubt that Pompey will score. Rather than going for last week’s two-goal hero in Matt Tubbs, I’m predicting that fellow top scorer Gary Roberts will be the man to shine.
With Gareth Evans suspended, Roberts will have even more responsibility than usual. Thankfully for the Fratton Park club, the 31-year old is more than willing to accept that challenge.
Pompey should win. Even if they don’t, Roberts can be confident about getting his name on scoresheet.
Treble:
As an acca, your best bet is to use Betfred. Odds will be 31/2.
