It’s a new dawn and a new day… The 2014/15 season has truly arrived now that the Premier League kicks off on Saturday and there are some games that I want to get stuck into immediately. My first couple of tip articles of the season have produced some good results – 3 of my 4 advised bets have been winners. Let’s hope I continue in good form this weekend to keep the betting bank ticking over in fine fashion. Good luck if you follow my selections.
Leicester City v Everton – 3.00pm
This game stuck out immediately when I was going through the fixture list. Leicester did fantastic to win the Championship last season and amass 106 points in the process. They only lost 6 games last term, and just 2 at home at the King Power. They’re undefeated in pre season which includes a 1-0 win over Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, and they’ve lost just 1 competitive match since mid January this year. So why am I considering opposing them?
Everton fans will be expecting big things of the Toffees this season, and Roberto Martinez will be wanting to improve upon their 5th place finish in the Premier League last season. In preparation of this they’ve secured the signature of Romelu Lukaku on a permanent basis, and they’ve just signed Chelsea’s Christian Atsu on loan.
Leicester are a resilient bunch and no team are going to have an easy ride at the King Power this season, but I’ve just got that feeling that Leicester will approach this game with a little bit of reservation. It’s their first game in the top flight for a long time and they won’t want to risk embarrassment.
I’m not going to suggest lumping on Everton to take all 3 points as this could be a real tough game but nevertheless I think it’s a game that Everton won’t lose. With this in mind and the match winner odds so close I’m advising Everton draw no bet at 7/10 with BetVictor. As I said I just can’t see them losing this game and 7/10 with insurance of a refund if it’s a draw is a price I’m very happy with.
Everton only conceded 20 goals away from home last season, making them the 2nd tightest defence behind Chelsea (16 goals). I think they’re going to be a tough defensive outfit on their travels again this term and it furthers the confidence I have in my advised bet.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace 5.30pm
I was impressed with Arsenal’s display against Manchester City in the Community Shield and had already earmarked this game as a possible bet. The fact that Tony Pulis left the club less than 48 hours before the visitors first game of the season further increases my confidence that Arsenal will claim a win without Palace finding the back of the net.
Arsenal suffered some heavy defeats last season and that’s something that Arsene Wenger has worked on during pre season. I expect the Gunners to be a lot more solid defensively this term and Crystal Palace are unlikely to be at their best at this early stage of the season, and with assistant Keith Millen in charge at least for now.
Arsenal to win to nil is an attractive 4/5 with Ladbrokes and I certainly see some value in that. My prediction is a 2-0 or 3-0 win for Wengers men.
