Tuesday night sees plenty of action taking place which includes Capital One Cup, Scottish Cup, and my main point of interest… The National League (or Conference Premier if you don’t like change).
We’ve already seen plenty of goals in this league, and there a new patterns emerging every week with regards to teams hitting or losing form.
Here are my best BTTS selections for Tuesday.
Tranmere Rovers v Aldershot 7.45pm
An interesting clash at Prenton Park here. Relegated from League Two last season, Tranmere will be expected to make a push for immediate promotion back to league status, and after a promising start to life in the National League they seem to have a rather serious case of 1 point syndrome.
If you follow us tonight and open a new account with 888sport you’ll get triple the odds of your first bet. Our treble will pay almost £160!
They’ve achieved stalemate in 4 of their last 5 league games, but to our satisfaction these have all been score draws.
Tranmere definitely have more in their locker to give, but tonight’s opponents Aldershot are in fine scoring form at present. The Shots have picked up 12 of their last 15 possible points and have put a poor start to the season behind them.
Barry Smith’s side won’t fear a trip up to the Wirral to face Tranmere, that’s for sure. Despite the home sides being odds on favourites to take the victory, you’d more than fancy an in form Aldershot side to net at least 1 goal, such is their current scoring form.
BET: Both teams to score at 1.89 with 888sport
Halifax Town v Gateshead 7.45pm
Halifax Town welcome 4th placed Gateshead to The Shay on Tuesday night, and on paper this looks a tough game for the West Yorkshire club that sit just one position from the foot of the National League table.
Despite picking up just 6 points from their opening 11 league games, they know exactly where the goal is – Halifax have scored 15 league goals which makes them the 2nd highest scoring team (behind Torquay) in the bottom half of the league. The 9 goals scored in their last 5 games have earned them just 5 points, but more to our liking is the fact that each of these games has seen both teams find the net. In fact, Halifax have hit BTTS in their last 7 consecutive games.
Gateshead will be absolutely gutted after their home loss to 20th placed Welling (1-2) at the weekend and will be intent on bouncing back to winning ways immediately. Bookies make this a tough game to predict, and while I wouldn’t like to call which team collects the points I am very confident that neither team will keep a clean sheet.

Forest Green v Cheltenham Town 7.45pm
It’s normally one of my rules to avoid top of the table clashes when I’m betting on BTTS, but on this occasion I’m willing to to go against my own advice when table toppers Forest Green meet 2nd placed Cheltenham.
My thinking behind this is that Cheltenham should be feeling they can take all 3 points at the New Lawn as the home side are far from watertight at present. Lincoln, Bromley and Southport have all travelled to Forest Green and found the net, and added to that the league leaders have now lost two games on the bounce (1-2 at Woking and 4-1 at Macclesfield last weekend). Cheltenham boss Gary Johnson should be smelling blood here.
Cheltenham have picked up 12 points from their last 15 and are on a run of 3 straight wins. The last thing they’ll be thinking just now is to play a defensive game and hope to nick a point. Forest Green are there for the taking.
That said, Forest Green rarely fail to score in front of home fans – hence why I feel BTTS has to be the bet here.
Bet: Both teams to score at 1.89 with 888sport
A £10 treble on this bet pays best at 888sport and will return £57.90
