English football is back and we’re hoping to start the new season in the same way we enjoyed much of last season – with a BTTS winner.
Our opening day treble pays out at just under 5/1 and would be the perfect way to get our season up and running. Let’s hope these six teams will do us justice.
Good luck!
Norwich City V Crystal Palace
Alex Neil has worked wonders since joining Norwich midway through last season, dragging the Canaries back to the Premier League. Many pundits expect them to have the best chance of surviving in 2015/16, and they’ll be eager to get their season started in style at Carrow Road.
The Canaries do boast some decent attacking talent, with the likes of Lewis Grabban, Gary Hooper and Cameron Jerome all capable of goals. Meanwhile, a talented midfield is also blessed with goals and they should be fancied to get on the scoresheet in this season opener.
However, Crystal Palace were equally impressive after a change of manager during 2014/15 and are being tipped for a successful season here. Alan Pardew has recruited well over the summer. Moreover, their games were full of drama during the second half of last season and we’d expect that to continue here.
There should be a lot of opening day excitement at Carrow Road. We’re backing both teams to score.

Burton Albion V Scunthorpe United
Burton Albion were brilliant in 2014/15, clinching promotion to League One under the guidance of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. The Brewers enjoyed a fantastic home record during their title-winning campaign, and will be hoping for more of the same as they open this campaign against Scunthorpe.
The hosts scored a total of 69 goals last term and the likes of Lukas Adkins and Abde El Khayati will be eager to fire them to three points here. However, they’ll need to keep things very tight if they want to keep Scunthorpe at bay.
Mark Robins men were involved in some thrilling BTTS winner last season and will head into the new campaign with great confidence. Strikers Rory Fallon and Paddy Madden will pose a threat and should be ready to convert any chances that fall their way.
League One is set to be an exciting division this term, and that feeling should be underlined in this opening day contest at the Pirelli.

Lincoln City V Cheltenham Town
Cheltenham fans suffered major heartache last term as their 16-year stay in the Football League came to an end. The Robins will be desperate to bounce back at the first attempt, but will be fully aware that the Conference is a difficult division to escape.
Nonetheless, Gary Johnson has fond memories of this division and will be hoping to see his side prove their worth in this difficult curtain raiser. An opening day victory could set the tone for their season, and the Robins will be determined for three points.
However, Lincoln aren’t exactly shy in front of goal and could cause a few problems for the visitors. The hosts were a regular feature on the BTTS coupon last term, scoring 62 and conceding 71 in total. We’re expecting Chris Moyses’ men to be involved in another similarly dramatic campaign in 2015/16.
Both teams will be desperate to get off the mark in style, we’re predicting goals at both ends.
